The Normanna Auxiliary, established in April 1948, plays a vital role in enhancing the lives of our residents by raising funds for entertainment and recreational activities.
The Auxiliary meets on the first Monday of every month to brainstorm fundraising ideas, with a light lunch provided. Afterward, residents gather to enjoy live entertainment and snacks, all sponsored by the Auxiliary. Live performances are hosted twice a month for their enjoyment.
The Auxiliary raises funds through various activities, including silent auctions, bazaars, raffles, and the sale of delicious Norwegian open-faced sandwiches and waffles.
In celebration of Normanna’s 70th anniversary, the Auxiliary produced a commemorative cookbook, available for purchase at the reception desk for $10 each – call 604-522-5812 to order yours!
Funds raised support valuable programs such as music and massage therapy, which create a calming environment for residents with dementia. Additionally, the Auxiliary provides active game supplies and sing-along DVDs, reinforcing the therapeutic power of music in our residents’ lives.
Generous contributions to our residents have included several pianos, iPods, a karaoke machine, a large freestanding umbrella, garden furniture, plants, and festive Christmas decorations, among other thoughtful gifts.
The Auxiliary also proudly donated $5,000 towards the purchase of our beautiful new bus, which provides transportation for resident outings.
