Key Focus Area

Resident And Family Centered Care

Our first key area focuses on the quality of life for our residents extending beyond physical wellbeing. Normanna will be a model in supporting the social, mental and emotional needs of our residents as well as lending comfort to their families.

Two key principles will guide us to achieve our resident/family experience

  1. Personalized care recognizing individual choices and cultures
  2. Care of the whole person, including social and emotional needs

Quality Team

This key area focuses on the quality, reliability and safety of the health care provided to our residents.

Three key principles will guide us in striving to achieve our quality and safety goals:

  1. Accountability for quality and safety
  2. Continuous improvement and innovation in delivery of safe and reliable care
  3. Operational efficiency & effectiveness

Quality Improvement & Risk Management

This Key area focuses on the values of continuous quality improvement and risk management. We have a responsibility to those we work with to provide them with a healthy and safe working environment, and to nurture their abilities to learn and do their best every day. For residents/families we strive to continually enhance their daily experiences

These two key principles will guide us to achieve our goal:

  1. Embracing the principles of Continuous Quality Improvement.
  2. A culture of empowerment and learning as investments for the future.

Strengthen Communications and Outreach

Our fourth key area focuses on communication and outreach and as such is a supportive goal.  We must continue to adapt to changing needs and meet the complex care requirements of an aging society. To do so we need to be visible and successful in attracting resources—human and financial.

Three key principles will guide us in striving to achieve our goal:

  1. Timeliness in accessing information from stakeholders.
  2. Engagement of our broad community in partnering with us
  3. Visibility ,telling our story through multiple media

Strengthen Communications and Outreach

Our fifth key area focuses on board governance. The role of the board is to direct, control and inspire through the establishment of broad organizational values and policies.

Three key principles will guide us in achieving our goal

  1. Modelling behaviours expected of others.
  2. Embracing a board of diverse composition based on current competencies and reflective of the community we serve.
  3. Honoring confidentiality.

Adaptive and Sustainable Path

Our sixth key area focuses on ensuring financial oversight and capital planning initiatives. Normanna is located in an aging building and strategies are needed for future planning.

Two key principles will guide us in accomplishing our sustainability goal.

  1. Strengthening reserves for asset and amenity renewal projects
  2. Identifying key future audiences and launching new visibility and funding opportunities

OUR QUALITY OF CARE

 

Normanna has been accredited by Accreditation Canada since 2014, and the organization participates in Canada’s Accreditation Programs. These standards examine all aspects of health care, from resident safety and ethics, to staff training and partnering with the community. Our team devotes time and resources to learn how to improve what we are doing so we can provide the best possible care and service to our residents. The Board of Directors, Staff and Volunteers take great pride in the quality of care and services provided at Normanna and extend a warm welcome to you.
