Marie Morris, Director
She is a highly accomplished health care leader with more than three decades of progressive experience in clinical practice, administration, and system-wide program development. From 1999 to 2009, she served with Vancouver Coastal Health as Manager of Adult/Older Adult Programs for Community Health Area 5, providing strategic and operational leadership for the Regional Home Hospice Program, Raven Song Primary Care Clinic, and the Regional Casual Rehabilitation Pool. She led interdisciplinary teams delivering services to approximately 80,000 residents in Vancouver’s Mount Pleasant/Riley Park community, managed a $4.5 million budget, and played a key role in developing the Raven Song Community Health Centre. Her leadership included oversight of contracted home support and residential care services, major service redesign initiatives, and participation in regional committees focused on quality improvement, clinical documentation, information management, and disaster preparedness.
Previously, she held senior leadership roles at St. Paul’s Hospital, including Patient Care Leader for Clinical Teaching Units and Geriatric Rehabilitation/Family Practice (1995–1999) and Head Nurse for Ambulatory Diagnostic and Treatment Services (1981–1995), where she managed large interdisciplinary teams, multi-million-dollar budgets, and significant program expansions. Her earlier clinical career included nursing roles in emergency, intensive care, surgery, and orthopedics across British Columbia and Ontario. She holds a Master of Health Services Administration from the University of British Columbia and a Bachelor of Health Sciences (Nursing) from Open University, with additional studies at Simon Fraser University. Committed to lifelong learning, she has completed extensive continuing education in leadership, quality improvement, emergency nursing, labour relations, and organizational development, reflecting her longstanding dedication to excellence in health care leadership.
