The combined celebration of Mother’s Day and Norway’s Constitution Day has been a long-standing tradition. Our invitation states “rain or shine” and this year we had both. Fortunately , the rain knew when to stop and we enjoyed the sunshine on the patio. To add to the event Normanna Ladies Auxiliary presented a corsage to all ladies in attendance.
Our Auxiliary Social Director, Helen Mosdell, gave an excellent talk on the History of Norway’s May 17th Constitution Day. Refreshments were served while guests visited wit hold and new friends. We thank you all for your support.
The Runeberg Choir opened our event with the singing of the two national anthems “O Canada” and “Ja, Vi ElskerDetteLandet”. The program ended with the Choir entertaining with a selection of songs in both Norwegian and English. Guests enjoyed singing along with the lively numbers.
Acting Mayor Paul McDonell brought greetings from Burnaby and paid tribute to all Mothers and ladies present and acknowledged Norway’s Constitution Day.
