Comfort. Care. Compassion.

68th Annual Garden Party at Normanna

On August 21st, Normanna celebrated its 68th Annual Garden Party on a breezy summer day in our Therapeutic Garden. Myrna Latval, President of the Normanna Board of Directors, welcomed residents, family members, staff, local politicians, the Ladies Auxiliary, the Board of Directors and representatives from various Lodges, Churches and Organizations to a lovely afternoon in the therapeutic garden.

Familiar songs of the past, sang by Ed Wahl, sounded through the garden, and a traditional Norwegian plate of open faced sandwiches, selections of fruit and kringle was served amongst the guests. With great thanks to the kitchen staff of Coastline, the refreshments were enjoyed by all in attendance. Representing The Ladies Auxiliary, Lisa Leslie, shared the ongoing projects, events and dedicated works that contribute to the lives of the residents at Normanna. Other special guests such as MP Peter Julian, MLA  Richard Lee, and Acting Mayor Colleen Jordan spoke to the commitment of providing quality care and the emphasis of collaboration supported by many individuals and groups associated with Normanna. Further to their message was the tradition of organizations such as Normanna, of which has been a cornerstone in the Norwegian community, but as well as a proud healthcare provider within the Fraser Health Authority. The family members in attendance enjoyed making new memories with their loved ones in which generations – young and old – came together.

With each year that passes the Annual Garden Party reminds us of the importance of tradition, community and serving each other.

Many thanks.
